About RACT Insurance

RACT Insurance commenced personal insurance operations as a managing agent in 1985. For the next decade insurance under this arrangement was conducted through the RACT Insurance name.

In July 1995 the company - RACT Insurance Pty Ltd - was created as a separate legal entity in Tasmania and all existing business written through the RACT agency was transferred to the new company.

Since then, RACT Insurance has continued to grow in Tasmania through its strong, trusted brand presence, and high levels of customer service. In 1999, RACT Insurance introduced a revolutionary new concept called Personal Insurance Portfolio (PIP) which enabled all its customers' insurance policies to be bundled together under one policy header, together with a premium discount. This continues to be a major point of differentiation from other insurers.

In 2004/05, RACT Insurance grew its market share significantly when it took over all the GIO and Suncorp Insurance policies in Tasmania. RACT Insurance is today the market leader in both Home and Motor Insurance in Tasmania.

Further improvements to services have been - and continue to be - introduced on a regular basis, such as allowing customers to pay premium via direct debit, paperless claim processes, and a 25% safety net additional free cover on home insurance, to name just a few.

RACT Insurance Pty Ltd is currently managed under a Joint Venture structure between THE ROYAL AUTOMOBILE CLUB OF TASMANIA Limited and SUNCORP METWAY INSURANCE LIMITED.

The RACT Insurance suite of products are distributed via the RACT (The Club) branch network. All claims and administration occurs within Tasmania, and RACT Insurance utilises its own extensive network of assessors and selected repairers.
